The Real Cost Of Placing A Google AdWords Ad

I feel like really sharing a breakthrough discovery, if you will, about placing an ad on Google AdWords. If you are anything like me, you probably hate to dig into your pockets, take out some greenbacks and hand them over to someone else. Heck, you hate it even if it’s pennies.

Well that’s definitely the same way I felt when I first placed an ad on Google. I had no idea how much it was going to cost me. I didn’t even know what I was getting into.

Here’s the story…

I spent a few minutes coming up with an extensive list of keywords. Pretty good keywords, mind you. Went on to place an ad and struggled to come up with a message that would fit on a line less than 35 characters and still communicate my offer, and because I wanted to get rich quick I just threw whatever I could up there and let it run without giving it much thought…

I started paying about a $1.00 per click and then it went up to $5.00!! OUCH!…

There was no way I was going to be able to run a business very long with such a money pit taking my food-buying legal tender. I hated it! I payed way too much to learn a very valuable, life-saving, epiphany-like lesson..

“My Message Sucked!”

In retrospect, the couple hundred dollars I spent was the school of hard knocks price for me to learn to market my services which has not only saved me thousands of dollars on marketing from that point forward but has put thousands more in my pocket.

What I learned in my first few weeks on Google AdWords is the single most important breakthrough my business has undergone and has given me a quantum leap into success. Google AdWords is street-level marketing education where your knowledge is put to test. It’s first hand experience at reaching your best prospects and relating to them.

If you can not come up with a message that generates traffic on Google AdWords (traffic that converts into a lead on your website), then any marketing, promotion, or advertising you do is probably useless and it’s costing you more than you think.

And just because I want to save you time and money on your own trial and error I’m going to share this…

What made the biggest difference in my Google Adwords MLM campaign was that I placed a compelling benefit rich line above the feature. This benefit-before-feature trick  increased my click-through-rate and lead conversion literally 4-6 times what I had.

Now think about this for a second…

For one, Google rewards you when you have high click through rates by charging you less money to advertise. So before I was paying a dollar to get a visitor where now I’m paying about 20-50 cents to get that same visitor… and because I found a message that converts better I get 4-6 times more clients out of the same traffic. This means that I’m literally paying about a tenth of what I was paying before…

This makes me 10 times as profitable as my competitor who hasn’t taken the time to learn Google AdWords and is too cheap to invest a couple hundred bucks in education that’s literally going to make them 100 times more money…

I don’t know if this will work for your specific market, but everyone I’ve shared this with has come back with positive results.

Oh and one last thing… the real cost of Google AdWords is based on your ignorance on the topic…

Enjoy!
