The MLM Shark That Keeps You Alive

There is a powerful lesson to be learned from the Japanese known as Kaizen. This simply means the continuous incremental improvements in whatever it is that you are doing.

Take the story of commercial fishermen in Japan. Over the last few years they had seen a decreased amount of fish they were bringing back to sell. In part it was due to competition, but also because fish were migrating to other places.

The Japanese fishermen were forced to build bigger boats to go further into the ocean to fish. Boats traveled miles and miles and suffered in their fish quality because fish were not as fresh as before. People buying fish noticed the difference in freshness, or lack thereof, and forced the fishermen to sell their fish cheaper. The Kaizen process continues and the boats are now equipped with big fridges to help the fish come back fresh.

However, fridges did not do the job. The fishermen upgraded to freezers and again, the Japanese refused to pay for fish that was not fresh.

The fishermen frustrated and running out of options got the great idea of building tanks with ocean water to bring the fish back and maintain freshness.

Believe it or not, the fish still tasted different…

Studies were done and found that these fish were bored in the tanks and stopped swimming. Their muscles decreased in mass because of their lack of activity. Now I want to pause this story for a second and ask you about a time you set a goal for yourself and you completed that goal. What did you do after that goal? If you are human and share the same faults I have, you probably got bored and quit working as hard…

Well, the fishermen decided to throw a small shark in the fish tank to keep the fish swimming all the way back to port where people found them fresh and payed a premium price for it. The fishermen were happy even though the shark ate some of the fish. Well what I’m telling you to do is to find a shark to keep you alive in your professional and personal life. As soon as you are done with a goal, be sure to set a new (and higher) goal and get that passion, that fire, that drive going. Otherwise you’ll be bored and people will notice that you are no longer fresh.

I recently took on a hobby to brew my own beer and I’ll tell you what, it has been the best thing I’ve done in months. It has reconnected me with old friends (I had to invite them to drink some beers so I could get the bottles to bottle my own) and I got to show off some of my beer brewing talents. And like anything else, there is a science and art to brewing beer. This is a good way to work on becoming whole-brained and develop personally.

I had achieved my goal of ranking high for a competitive keyword on the search engines and started to generate network marketing leads completely free. I didn’t need to work anymore and lost that drive I had when I started. Now I’m back and capturing a higher market. I’ve got a new shark making me run and stay active in my business…
