Stop Spamming Your Twitter Friends With MLM
Twitter has become the new target for people to pitch their business opportunity. Now here’s what’s happening…
In the real estate industry, realtors have a bad reputation because many call their friends and family and ask for referrals (similar to network marketing). Telemarketers also have a bad reputation because they call you even if it’s 8:00am (and you’re sleeping in) up to 10:00pm (and you’re trying to watch tv or go to sleep early)… either way, it’s an unwelcome call when they are trying to pitch something you are not interested in.
Well, I’m just getting started with twitter and am surprised to see how many people have autoresponders that when I follow them (as courtesy of them following me), their message is something like “learn how I made $23,454 in 6 days using Twitter”. This is like the ad that says, make $20,000 from home and all they tell you is to place ads that say “make $20,000 from home”. It’s junk, it’s unwelcome, and simply not good business practice.
So here’s how you change things around…
You need to offer people value, and they will in turn seek you out. This changes the whole situation and the social dynamics make it easier for the sales person to sell. For example, as a real estate agent, one can offer free information on how to buy foreclosures or buy with no money down. A buyer is very likely to be interested in this information and will probably call the agent because they perceive them as the expert in the field. Now think about this, the only person likely to call the real estate agent is someone interested in buying real estate…. so the agent doesn’t have to sell them on anything (they are already pre-sold). The telemarketer should do the same and offer information on their product and call only when the prospect has made an inquiry, that way, they at least know that they will be calling someone who has some interest in what they are selling. Similarly, the prospect is now pre-sold because it’s known that they are proactively looking for information on the product.
In conclusion…. the best way to sell on twitter is by giving away free information on your product or services and if it’s any good, your ‘friends’ will go to your profile page and check out your website… Thanks for not spamming… pass this one on!
