So You Want To Be Lazy And Successful?
This morning as I got things rolling I caught a glimpse of an msn article entitled “how to be lazy and successful”. Ha! wouldn’t that be something?
Anyway, I suppose the somewhat-laughable article actually does share some good tidings despite the misleading title. I don’t think it’s about being lazy. I think it’s about working smarter and narrowing on income producing activities. Most of us get the idea that merciless-backbreaking work won’t get you a Trump or Gates style bank account. I know many people who work extremely hard and are poverty-stricken. If that was the world we lived in, we would see construction workers burning rubber cruising on ferraris and what not.
So what are you doing to work less and make more greenbacks for your business?
The first thing I did was to stop chattering with the wrong people. I figured out that talking to less people got me more sales and made me more money. I didn’t want to talk to someone who wasn’t already interested in buying my products. I didn’t want to beat the dead horse out of someone who didn’t have any money to buy my products.
I went from making 50-100 calls a day to making only 10-15 calls. Since those calls were with the right people I closed more sales than by making 100 calls to the wrong, uninterested people.
Marketing and selling is all about sending the right message to the right people via the right mediums. So working harder and calling more people wouldn’t do me any good. Calling less people, but making sure they are the right people will actually get me results. That’s my version of how to be lazy and be successful
How do you manage your time and income producing activities?
