Have Network Marketers Gone Nuts?
There two things to keep in mind when you are in business. One is the tried and true time-tested business principles and the other… well let’s call them the new rules. Like anything else, a brand new thing has its appeal and it becomes a short term strategy. An example of this is MySpace. Back in 2004-2005 it was all the rage and the talk of the internet. If you weren’t on MySpace you weren’t cool and the Football team jocks were going to lock you up in your locker.
Early network marketers realized the potential to market their business opportunity to people in MySpace. Now when it first got started, you could tell someone in that network to check out your page to see how you made money. The problem? A trend emerged and all of the sudden you had a group of people saying the same thing and spamming the network.
Here’s the thing. MySpace still works, but you know who is making it work? Truthful, honest and most importantly authentic individuals.
In marketing there is a huge contradiction which you must understand. In marketing we are taught to never underestimate the ignorance of people. This is true, however it is not to be confused with the stupidity of people. People in masses can and will many times be stupid, but a person on their own is usually smarter, not by brain smarts, but by intuition. See if you go to MySpace or any other social network for that matter and you are not authentic, people will smell you’re full of it.
People know when you have an agenda and you are playing bait and switch on them. People don’t like to be played a fool. What they are looking for and craving for is someone to guide them. Someone to take them by the hand and show them the way. I am hoping to be that person for you which is why I created my free training course on this blog, but I certainly will not force or fool anyone into training with me or joining my specific business opportunity.
Why?
I think passion is important in business. Sure you can build business without passion for the industry you work in, but I rather do what I like to do without being dependent on it. I market affiliate products, I market my business opportunity, I brew beer at home, I hike and go to the gym, and I even attend college classes even though I don’t plan on looking for a job. Learning is a passion for me and that’s what gets up off the bed every morning. I literally crave going online first thing in the morning and seeing how many more people I’ve helped and listen to their success stories.
If you are in network marketing solely for the money, I’m sorry to say this but you are going to have a hard time being successful and will go nuts banging your head against the wall. The new wealth is going to be measured in happiness, not money. Heck, you’re better off owning gold than dollars so be careful what you wish for, you might just get it….
