MLM Sucks… I Can’t Generate Leads??

Network Marketing is a unique industry, where you see people from all over the world who’ve never done any marketing come into the industry and start playing a numbers game….

The process of making a sale is somewhat universal across all industries. You grab your prospects attention by talking to their emotional hot buttons. You create interest in your product/service by talking to your prospects about their needs. You create desire by offering your product/service as the best solution to their needs. Finally you ask the prospect to buy or take some other action that will eventually lead to a sale

For most people, network marketing is like going to Las Vegas…. the house always wins!

So, if you are not recruiting as many people as you’d like, or if you are not selling as much product as you’d like, here’s what you need to do. You need to first of all, understand the sales cycle (what I just described above). Then you need to look at your own sales cycle and break it down into pieces.

For example. Look at how you are asking for the sale. Do you have any prospects to talk to and ask for sales? If not, then look at the previous step. Are you generating enough desire for your product or service? Maybe this is why you’re not getting sales. Maybe you don’t have anyone to talk to to generate desire for your product. And you continue on.

Most people fail to simply grab their prospects attention. You need to understand that you only have 3 to 4 seconds to grab their attention. Your headline in your ad will grab their attention, but you can’t stop there. Grabbing their attention will only buy you an extra 4-5 seconds, which will buy you the next 5 seconds and so on until you get them to take action

Now, I described the sales cycle in four steps, but this can be broken down even further. Let’s take a look at your ads. Let’s say that you are running a Google Adwords Campaign to drive traffic to a sales page. Now, let’s say that you are not getting much traffic. What you want to do is break down your Google ad into pieces. Is the ad talking to your prospect? Is the ad compelling enough to generate interest and make people want to click on it (The same 4 cycles are included in this mini ad!)?

Last, I want to talk about being congruent. In other words, how consistent are you with what you are offering and what you are actually selling or promoting? You can write a great ad that drives a lot of traffic, but not necessarily generate a lot of sales. Your initial way of grabbing attention should be 100% relevant to what you are going to offer your prospect. You should then start talking to them about what’s most important to them. 80% of what you say should be about them and the last 20% should be about what you’ve got to offer (which then again, should be about them)
