MonaVie Juice – Is It A Fuel For The Body With A Mixture Too Lean On Promises?

Everyone knows that eating fresh fruit can have strong nutritional values toward promoting a healthy lifestyle. Generations of humans can prove testimony to that, although during present times which are found to be more demanding with our sometimes hectic way of living, we’ve always sought more convenient solutions in how to consume these beneficial properties. Most commonly the form of these condensed fruit supplements comes in the way of processed juices.

The instant consumption and release of their nutrients are a fast and effective method for the body to avail of their properties, not to mention less hassle to eat and sometimes sporting a longer shelf life of preservation than fresh fruit.

The two reasons why anyone would want to drink such products is pretty straightforward. Either it’s because they enjoy the taste, or more importantly they want to try and benefit from the high nutritional content to maintain a healthy body. It is without a doubt that this corner of the market devoted towards wellness through fruit juice is a popular angle for which countless MLM companies seem to take advantage of.

One of these in question would have to be the much talked about MonaVie brand of juices, with their use of promotion by means of the media celebrated Brazilian açai berry as its predominant ingredient.

For just over five years now, MonaVie juice has taken the wellness industry by storm. Their range of products are all associated with the high antioxidant and nutritional properties of the açai berry as the key player in the blending, along with up to 18 additional fruit ingredients depending on the juice. For example, MonaVie Active Juice, the company’s flagship product contains 19 fruits in total including açai berry, white grape, apple, acerola cherry, aronia (chokeberry), purple grape, cranberry, passion fruit, prune, kiwi, blueberry, bilberry, wolfberry (goji berry), pomegranate, lychee, camu camu, pear, banana, and cupuaçu pulp.

Each one of these fruits are known for their unique characteristics which range from high levels of antioxidants and anthocyanin plant sterols, elevated levels of vitamins, protein and dietary fiber, or generous mineral and healthy fat content.

With such alluring qualities of condensed nutrition contained in their juice formula, they certainly do seem to give the average health conscious person something worth thinking about. However, there is one aspect that continually throws focus on whether the value of MonaVie juice is worth it’s weight in wellness, and that has always been the debatable aspect of its high pricing.

MonaVie juice, as well as many other high priced competitive brands on the market, has always been the subject of scrutiny with regards to much cheaper brands of regular household fruit juices that can be purchased in any local grocery store for a just fraction of the cost. MonaVie do constantly tout the use of the açai berry as an ingredient which has been scientifically proven to contain high nutritional qualities, but there are two problems to this claim.

First of all we are not told how much of the berry is used as an additive, leaving open for speculation that possibly cranberry or blueberry makes up the majority of their blend by volume as they too contain high antioxidant properties and are very similar in color and texture. It would only make profitable sense to use more of a produce easily found in one’s own backyard than importing great quantities of freeze dried açai berry. Even a sprinkle of cinnamon in each bottle would do the trick to increase the antioxidant content.

Secondly, there comes the issue of antioxidants. Although there is much talk in the advertising media about how beneficial these are to the human body, it’s actually yet to be proven outside of the laboratory whether they do us any good in their consumption. All results have been confined to test tubes with regards to antioxidants biological effects, and some scientists claim that stomach acids may neutralize or destroy these nutrients before they even get a chance to be absorbed by the bloodstream.

Now it seems that it’s possibly the flavonoids in these fruits may be the key to their raw health potential, although it wouldn’t be the first time scientific research has proved itself wrong.
