Açai Berry & MonaVie – Is It Another Amazon Opportunity We Can’t Afford To Miss?

Mention Brazil and one might instantly think of upbeat Mardi Gras street carnivals, exhilarating Latin music, internationally renowned soccer fans with a flair to enjoy life, and a generalization towards a culture of lively and energetic nature.

Mention a common produce of Brazil, then one might associate its exotic qualities with the invigorating lifestyle of the population. A common stereotypical view of what many countries have to endure when it comes to worldwide cultural differences and nationalities, although still a generalization of perception.

Enter the açai berry…

A fruit now commonly renowned with Brazil for the past 15 years to show high antioxidant and health beneficial properties, and touted as something of a staple diet to millions of Brazilians. Now, not to deliberately burst anyone’s bubble, but for a fruit that many multi-level marketing companies are now promoting to have extreme health-ridden properties, why is it that the life expectancy of the average Brazilian is approximately 72 years?

This as you’ll maybe agree is something of an average unto itself with consideration to the rest of the world, so where are the promises of longer life through beneficial anti-aging properties from the açai berry?

Ok, so not every manufacturer of açai berry products tout these exaggerated claims, but MLM companies like MonaVie do maintain that the fruit has certain elevated nutrient content and high health beneficial properties. Not only do they say this, which is somewhat true due to the inherent fact of its nutritional values being scientifically analyzed, but they also remark upon how the berry has been used as part of the native Brazilians staple diet throughout countless generations.

This statement is somewhat believable for sure within reason, but how does it account for a mortality rate which during the 1950’s in Brazil may only have been around 45-55 years on average?

With advancements in modern medicine and the greater accessibility of medical facilities at more affordable means, this undoubtedly would have a bigger impact on a population’s life expectancy over a 50 year period.

These simple statistics however can obviously show that no amount of açai berries will have the effect of promoting what all of these “super food” companies’ claims their products can do. With countless generations being successfully brought up on bread and potatoes, who’s to say that we didn’t have the formula for healthy living already handed to us on a plate?

Maybe we should ask ourselves sometimes that maybe the solution for healthy living is not actually taking something supplementary to our diet, but removing the bad foods which are already part of our common way of living. Fast food has always had it’s stigmatism, but no matter how unhealthy it can be, its taste and convenience can be more tempting than a bowl of fruit.

If it’s high antioxidant qualities you may adamantly seek though due to the current buzz factor of this still to be proven nutritional aspect, then why not try a nice cinnamon bun like Grandma used to make.
