Climbing Up The Mountain – The Success Of The Entrepreneur
What Top Producers Know About Getting To The Top That You Don’t
Climbing Up The Mountain is the analogy that’s stuck with me to describe the entrepreneurial lifestyle.

Jack In Sedona, AZ
Over the weekend I took my little dog jack hiking up in Sedona, AZ. It is one of the hottest months of the year to go up there, but if you are prepared you can make it through the hard times.
It’s very similar to going entrepreneurial in economic times like today. It’s tough, but if you are well prepared you can laugh at the others because you know what they don’t know
Over the course of time as Jack and I take on new hiking adventures, we’ve learned a few different things. One of them being that Jack’s paws are not used to rough surfaces as he spends most of his time in the well padded carpet in the living room. He’s the only one that lives there, so we’ll still call it a living room. Well we decided to get him a pair (two pairs?) of hiking boots so that the hot arizona surface and the rocks wouldn’t cut his paws like the first time

Jack's Hiking Boots
We now frequent the same hiking trail about 2 or 3 times a week. I see the locals everytime and then the new hikers. We go up and see other dogs getting carried down because their owners didn’t know better, just like I didn’t know any better my first time. I see people hike up in Jeans and with no water bottles!
Well we all have to go through experiences to make our mistakes and learn from them. We are all new at one point. We weren’t born knowing everything we know, and we definitely didn’t learn everything the first time around
My friends think that just because I have a website I’m successful…and while my websites are a big part of my business, that is not what made me successful in the first place. There isn’t one single thing that made me successful, but a combination of things
It all started with the desire to grow and learn new things. With that desire, along with my aspiration to become entrepreneurial, I was introduced to direct response marketing. This led me to online marketing and every seminar, coaching program, ebook, etc., that I’ve come across. Each one has helped in some way and together they’ve had a compounding effect on my personal growth and business success.
Now everytime I get out of some sort of training program, I look back and find out what I didn’t know before was the reason I struggled my first time around and just like I see people make mistakes up at the mountain, I see people make mistakes online. Trust me I was there
“Most People Over-Estimate What They Can Do In One Year, And They Under-Estimate What They Can Do In Five Years”. Keep learning! Your overnight success will come years down the road. Don’t be the person who quits when success is just around the corner. If you are marketing online, learn everything you can about marketing. Even if you think it’s not doing much for you, look for the compounding effect down the road.
