How to get targeted twitter followers
If you are on Twitter, I probably don’t need to tell you about all the spam that I’m sure you hate as much as getting a telemarketer call you at 7 am when you are trying to sleep in. The biggest reason why there is so much spam is because of all the software and money making schemes that help you mass follow people and then convince you to sell the product back by tweeting ads that promote the use of the program. Promoting a program like this is not necessarily bad if you are able to add value and show a good use of this program. The problem you get with automated stuff is the potential for spam.
Everyday I get new followers and everyday I have to unfollow people I thought were non-spammers. I think there’s is a group of people who operate under the I’ll-let-you-spam-my-twitter-if-you-let-me-spam-yours mentality. I personally like to post tweets when I have something good to say, something that could make a difference in someone’s life. Well today, I want to post something that could be useful, even for someone outside of my target market.
I started my twitter account from absolutely zero followers. I then started posting tweets that were informative and sent links to good articles and blog posts that I had either found or written myself. By doing that I started getting followers that were interested in my content and I now had people I could potentially market to. Keep in mind that I rarely ever send a promotional tweet (less than 3% if that), but when I have it actually gets read because people are used to reading good content from my tweets. I would rather have 100 followers that are interested in what I have to offer than have 1,000 followers who have absolutely no interest in what I have to offer. That is the reason why I have not jumped into the auto friend follower trend. I know some of these programs target specific profiles, but the difference here is, my followers are actually interested in my tweets. If I were to mass follow people, they may follow me back out of courtesy but that doesn’t mean they’ll be interested in reading my tweets.
Like everything else, building a good list of twitter followers, facebook friends, youtube friends, etc., requires work. Most people don’t like to work and are always looking for get rich quick programs. The faster they want to get rich, the longer it takes them. So if you want to set yourself apart, start building on a solid foundation and tweet only good relevant content that your potential customers would like to read. This way you can create a highly targeted list of twitter followers who will actually follow you and READ your Tweets.,
Everytime I tweet about an article like this I get about 10-12 new followers and about half of them are actual people who send personal direct messages (not auto responders). I haven’t heard from anyone who retweets any of my articles if they get any new followers. Maybe they haven’t paid attention, so if you decide to test it out, do me a favor….. Check the number of followers you have before you retweet, then see if your list of followers increases and let me know by posting a comment here, if you get new followers that you think followed you because you tweeted this article.
