How To Increase Your Website’s Conversion Rates
Your soon-to-be raving fans drop anchor on your website. They wander little and simply hit the left arrow button commonly known as “The Back Button”….
How do you put an end to such atrocious event? (How dare they…)
The world wide web is becoming a dog-eat-dog place (rookies beware). We’re truly running smack into an online survival of the fittest anomaly. The battle is never-ending. You offer a free report, your competitor offers free video. You offer free video, they offer free video plus three month (free) subscription to their program. You work hard, they mercilessly out work you. Cruel!
But is working harder really the key to online happy days?
I want to say nay. I think that if we focus on quality and good salesmanship we can beat our competitors. So here’s a list of a few things you can work on to increase your conversion rates….
- Keep your navigation structure user friendly. There are a few different web page styles you should have. One is your main page, which could be your blog. Another could be a catalog site where you have a list of your products. Then you would have a landing page to have people opt-in or buy something. If you want people to hand over their credit card or online’s most precious real estate, their email, it’s often better to NOT give them options. I’ve seen some squeeze pages that have a link that say, ‘click here’ to visit my blog. If your prospects wishy-washed their way to your blog, unless they have a compelling reason to go back to the squeeze page, they more than likely will not opt-in. You want them to opt-in to increase your profits through email autoresponders.
- Check your page load speed. I ran a website for a while before realizing it was taking longer than molasses to load. Most people will not wait more than 3-5 seconds to see if your page will load. Along with this I would recommend you check to make sure your website works with all browsers. Yes Firefox and Internet Explorer nauseate each other…
- Study…. no… Master the art of copywriting. Truth is your business will depend on how well you sell your product. You could have the greatest product in the market, but if you can’t promote it you’ll fail. Even if you plan on having someone else write copy for you, I think it will be beneficial to learn this skill.
- Test different payment options. Few people ever offer installment payments on their products. Even if you are selling a low end product, you can greatly benefit from offering installment payments.
- Use video to demonstrate the use of your product. Now that people have faster connection speeds and sites like YouTube and others that make it easy to upload videos and stream them for us, we can make use of that technology to deliver our message. The same copywriting skills apply when making a video, but we are finding that conversions are higher with a personal video from us explaining our products
The most basic and overlooked conversion tip I’ve ever given is to focus on your prospects wants or needs and make sure that you are driving highly targeted traffic to your website when trying out conversions.
Many make the mistake to drive free traffic to test conversions. I recommend driving highly targeted traffic through pay per click services and use that inside scoop to get higher conversions with your free traffic.
