Why You Shouldn’t Mention Your MLM Company

One of the toughest habits to get rid of for most MLM newbies is wanting to recruit or sponsor anyone and everyone with a pulse. Inexperienced marketers think of MLM sponsoring as a numbers game. The more people you talk to the more you will sell…

Well this is only true if you talk to the right people.

It may surprise you to hear me say that the best recruits you’ll get will be by the old school form of referrals. However, this is not to say that you should build your MLM business by referrals. First you have to position yourself as an expert and build relationships along the way until the referrals come to you naturally.

In a recent school project, students were told to seek out job opportunities or an internship. Many of them resorted to sites like monster.com and other job classified sites. The problem with those sites is quality control. In fact, a common MLM recruiting strategy is to buy resume leads and talk to people looking for jobs!!

Instead of going to these places, students were better off going to the University’s career services and talking to the instructors who have relationships with employers and recruiters to get job and internship leads. These companies had openings and they only hire people through referrals from universities and their close sphere of influence. Why? well they don’t want just anyone in their company. They want the best!

Well similarly, you don’t want just anyone in your downline. You only want the best, the self starters and achievers. These people are hard to come by, but one of them will do the work of 10. Therefore, the only people that join my downline are those who prove themselves to be self starters and have shown interest in the company or product before talking to me. This is all done through a sales funnel similar to this blog.

In fact, this blog was built to train my downline and you are getting the benefit of taking an inside look at our business. In addition to this training we have more specific training which only our downline can access (since it’s only relevant to them) but the main principles of marketing are found here. You can take the same information and apply it to your own business. Obviously you’ll have to create your own company specific sales funnel which is another benefit we offer our downline, they can use our already established marketing funnel to generate network marketing leads and not have to re-invent the wheel.

So, what do you do instead of mentioning your MLM?

Well you learn to sell the product and find people interested in that topic who want to earn income. That’s it!
