Step By Step Guide On How To Fail Using Twitter

If you are part of the energy twitter has brought by kicking text messaging right in its you know what, you probably are familiar with all the advertising that goes on with all your followers. Everyday, I get messages from people that pitch you on how to make money on twitter. Everyday I unfollow people that don’t bring any value into my life. Bringing value into people’s life is what will make you successful to begin with, but today, I’m going to do something different. I’m not going to tell you how to make money on Twitter (or other social media networks for that matter)…… I’m going to tell you how not to make money.

Keep in mind, this is from experience, so if you are doing this right now, it’s ok as long as you listen and start moving forward

1. Step 1 – Spam Your Followers
   When I first started using social networks for business purposes, I decided to open up a separate myspace account and bought one of those auto friend finder robots to build up my list of MySpace friends. I then thought about how to sell to those people. Looking back, I don’t even think I liked myself back then, since all I did was spam. Now if you are doing this right now on twitter, ask yourself…. Is your goal in life to make money by spamming your twitter followers? If so, I’m sorry for you and I wish you all the luck. If not, then stop spamming your followers!
2. Step 2 – Don’t Talk To Your Followers
   Believe it or not, there are many people who use twitter for social interaction. Anytime you step into someone’s world, they are going to size you up and figure out your agenda right away. Now, if you do get followers on a daily basis, it’s impossible to talk to everyone and get to know everyone. However, I try to do as much interaction and make an attempt at getting to know other people. If you are not talking to people, you are missing the opportunity of potentially meeting the person who could become your business partner in the future.
3. Step 3 – Listen To Everything That Gurus Say
   Most make money on twitter sales pitches are simply a new way of sending envelopes to people saying pay me $50 and I’ll tell you how to make money. Then they just tell you… send this same message to other people and ask them for $50. If you really want to believe that this is the only way to make money online, you are just too naive.
4. Step 4 – Quit After You Try Something And It Doesn’t Work
   Most people try, try, try and never achieve anything. It’s easier to sit down and learn about something than it is to TAKE ACTION. You will fail…. it happens when you are new to something. I’m going to assume you are new to business, or maybe the online medium. Regardless, the same principles from thousands of years ago still apply. Don’t focus on your failures, focus on your goals. Think about the things that need to happen for you to reach your goal and break your goal down into little pieces.

Try sending out a message that actually helps people and don’t ask for anything in return. Watch how many people will contact you and thank you and will actually follow you… I haven’t been on twitter that long and my list of followers is doubling on a weekly basis without any type of robot friend finder. In fact 98% of my followers found me.
