Are MLM Leads With Google AdWords Expensive?
Google AdWords is one of the greatest tools we as network marketers have to build our business. You can follow any successful internet marketer and you’ll find that they include Google AdWords somewhere in their marketing campaign.
Now, before we go on to discuss this strategy as a lead generating tool for your mlm business, let’s get one thing straight… Google AdWords should NOT be your main source of traffic!
With that being said, however, you should use Google AdWords to perfect your sales funnel. So let’s start with this…
Why would you use AdWords at all?
Well, the great thing about it is people tell you exactly what they want and all you have to do is offer that to them… Example, go on to the search engines and type in the keyword “mlm training”
What you are going to see on the top and right (shaded area) is advertising. People bid on the keyword “mlm training” and Google in turn shows their ad.
Now you would think that these people know what they are doing, but they don’t. So the first piece of advice I hope you take with you today is to not go and copy what other advertisers are doing!
Few people truly understand Google AdWords and can maximize their profits from using it.
So with that in mind think of how you could use this tool to build your business. Imagine you owned a restaurant. People tell you “I’m hungry, I want a hamburger”… you can basically turn around and say back to them “here’s a hamburger” and sell it to them.
Well similarly people go to the internet everyday and type in keywords like “join mlm company” or “join (insert the name of your company)”. All you would have to do is bid on those keywords and echo back to these people “here’s how you join this company” and sponsor them into your business.
But before you set out to try and figure this out on your own let me tell you what happened to me.
I started using adwords back in 2007 and I thought I was doing good. The market I went into was expensive and I was too new to this whole online marketing stuff.
One of my first mistakes was that I wasn’t tracking so my numbers were off. I thought I was paying $62.47 when I was averaging $37.92 per lead (highly qualified). I guess that’s a good thing, but I was still paying way too much!
Now, my other option was to pay a company for these leads at $40 a piece so for a year and eight months, I thought I was beating these lead generating companies and getting my own cheaper and more qualified leads since the leads were familiar with me and not some random company generating the leads for me.
As you can see, I had a pretty good click through rate at 9.33%. I had no clue I was missing a big piece to all of this. It wasn’t until I searched for information on building a good AdWords campaign that I realized how fast I was going broke.
Back in May of 2009 I made a simple tweak to my campaign and I cut down my AdWords cost to 18.32% of what I was paying. In other words my cost was less than one fifth what I was paying.
What changed?
Well for starters, I wrote my own ads from scratch instead of copying what other advertisers were doing.
Now I look at them and can’t help but feel sorry for how much they are paying to advertise on Google.
I have found keywords that were costing me $1.50 per click and now buy them for $0.30 per click.
It’s as simple as doing things like separating your campaigns by closely related keywords. Separate the search, and content networks. Learning when and when not to use broad, phrase and exact match. You’ll be amazed at how simple this is.
I recommend you get Perry Marshall’s Free Google AdWords Course to begin with.

This is Day one for me on your site and I’m finding it very useful. You motivated to sign up for Adwords and I’m going to try a campaign. Being mindfulof the tips you offered. Still not clear on the broad words, but I’ll take my time and learn.TIA
Google AdWords is very powerful, but you must be careful with it. Broad words are words that come up anywhere on a search term.
Basically, say you want to bid on the the word: Avon Products (no brackets or quotation marks)
Then your ads will appear whenever someone types in any phrase that contains those two words… examples:
how Avon makes their Products
products that are better than Avon
Avon Products reviews
So it doesn’t really matter where in the search term the words appear as long as they appear.
If you were doing phrase match: “Avon Products”
Then the words will have to be next to each other, but anything could go before it or after
Examples:
Buy Avon products
how much do Avon products cost
Avon Products reviews
Notice how the search term “Avon Products Reviews” would appear both on broad and phrase match…
Now if you were to do exact match: [Avon Products]
Then you ad would appear only, and only when someone types exactly that. If you wanted your ad to appear for the search term “Avon Products Reviews” using exact match, you would have to include it within the brackets…
[Avon Products Reviews]
When using adwords, Broad Match, Phrase Match, and Exact Match, should have different bids (broad being cheaper than phrase and phrase being cheaper than exact)…
However each one requires different strategies to get a successful account going.
I wish I could explain everything here, but it takes a lot… the best investment you will ever make is with Perry Marshall’s Google AdWords Guide…. it’s by far the best (I own both the old version and the new version)
I paid full price and can tell you it is worth every single penny…
Hope this helped…
