Welcome to my blog…
I assume you want to know who I am since you just clicked the about me page, so here it goes…
I served 4.5 years in the US Navy and after my first enlistment, I moved down to Arizona to pursue a career in real estate. This was in November of 2006, which happened to be the time when everyone else was getting out of the business. It was almost like walking into the super bowl at the end of the game. Everyone is leaving giving you the turn-around-you-already-missed-the-fun look. Better yet, it was like being dropped off into a bull run with no experience in running away from bulls…. Brutal!
Believe it or not, it took me about 3-4 months to realize that real estate was a business and as such, I had to market my services. I decided to invest in myself and attended my first seminar and joined my first coaching program ever. Needless to say, I spent about $15,000+ that year on business and marketing education. This was my introduction to marketing which was mostly direct mail given I was in real estate, but it did include some online marketing. My coach was somewhat old school, but by then I had desire and decided to look into online marketing further and spent an extra $5,000 on online marketing training.
If you’ve looked into online marketing training, you will agree with me that it is inevitable to come across the MLM industry. So this is pretty much how I ended up in this market.
But let me take a step back, because my first two years in business were pretty brutal and I know that it wasn’t the market…. It was my lack of knowledge! I was struggling because my mentors in real estate told me to make a list of one hundred people I knew and call all of my friends, family and yes even acquaintances to tell them that I was in real estate and ask for referrals. Luckily I pursued the training and built a business that was profitable despite what people said about the market.
In early 2008 I was introduced to a network marketing company and I joined with no intention to sponsor any reps under me or sell the product. I just liked the product and bought it (it was education)…. During the next few months, I got to know the person who sold me the product who kept bugging me to refer people to him and get me to sell the product myself. I looked at him and I saw myself a year ago… he had been told by his mentors, the same thing I was told when I first started my business. I couldn’t believe that the marketing knowledge I had gained was something only the top 20% of business owners knew about. Less than that actually implement it! Needless to say, I saw a big opportunity in teaching people how to build a business and I really enjoy it. I feel it’s going to make a difference in people’s lives and if you’ve read through my blog, you’ll realize that I have a true passion for marketing and business…
For the record, I’m still active in real estate and I enjoy it just as much. I only talk about real estate with my close friends though, so get to know me and I’ll be glad to talk to you about it.
