7 Questions You Must Ask Before Joining Your MLM
Not all MLM Sponsors are the same. If you decide to seek help of your MLM Sponsor when starting your business, you need some good information before you waste any of your time and money.
Joining the right leader is one of those critical issues that can determine whether you will fail or succeed in MLM.
There are very specific questions you should be asking to ensure that you get the best training and step by step instructions based on your needs.
Many MLM Sponsors would prefer that you don’t ask these questions, because the knowledge you’ll gain from their honest answers will give you a very good idea about what outcome you can expect from joining that rep. And let’s face it – in network marketing, as in life – not all things are created equal.
Choosing the right leader and mentor in network marketing is just like finding the best coach. It’s critical that you make the right decision about who will handle what is probably the most important financial investment you will ever make
1. What Makes You Different And Why Should I Join Through You? It’s a much tougher market than it was a decade ago. Heck, in the last couple of years the internet has revolutionized the network marketing industry and few are keeping up with these changes. What are some of the unique marketing plans and programs that your mentor has in place to make sure that you can hit the ground running? What type of training does this rep offer that others don’t to help you grow your business even if you are getting started and are on a tight budget? How do you deal with marketing if the company doesn’t allow you to use the name of the company?
2. What Is Your Track Record And Reputation In The Market Place? It may seem like everywhere you look, network marketers are claiming that they have the #1 business opportunity for this or that, or quoting you the number of checks they’ve received.
If you’re like many just getting started, you’ve probably become immune to much of this information. Afterall, you ask, “Why should I care about how many people someone has sponsored over another rep. The only thing I care about is whether they can help me achieve the same results or better.” Well, because you want to succeed in network marketing without wasting time or money making mistakes, you should be asking your upline how many reps have they sponsored and how much product have they sold.
I’m sure you will agree that success in network marketing is selling more products and sponsoring more reps. If one rep is selling a lot of product and sponsoring more reps while other reps are only sponsoring a handful, ask yourself why this might be? What things are these two reps doing differently? You may be surprised to know that the average Network Marketer sponsors fewer than 2 reps and then quit.
This volume makes it difficult for them to stay in business because they can’t raise the money it takes to afford the advertising and special programs to train their sponsors to help them succeed. Also, at this low level, they are probably trying to do everything themselves which means they’ll have less time to train you and you’ll be running around on your own.
3. What Are Your Marketing Plans For My Business? Find out how much money does this rep spend on advertising compared with other reps and where are they advertising? A good marketer runs advertising only in places where they know they’ll get a return on the money they’ve invested. They should know the effectiveness of one medium over the other.
Also, does your MLM Sponsor have a system in place for you to be able to hit the ground running? A common problem among top producers is that they are too busy to teach their downline how to sell products and sponsor new reps under them.
4. Does The Company Restrict Where And How You Advertise? Most are surprised when they find out that they can’t use the company’s name in their website to promote the services and products they are selling. This makes it almost impossible to sell online and most network marketers simply give up because of this. If the company does restrict how you market and sell their products, be sure to ask how is your mentor getting around that and what kind of business model do they use.
5. How Many Active Members Are On Your Team Or Downline? Obviously the more sponsors your rep has, the better chances are of him being abe to teach you how to do the same. It can also impact training because a rep with many sponsors, usually has a systemized way of training sponsors and set up forum like mastermind groups where they can all learn from their leader as well as the team. Ask them to describe the system they have for attracting new business.
6. Do You Have A Reference List Of Clients I Could Contact? You’ll see many have all kinds of testimonials and don’t be surprised to learn that many times these testimonials are from the company and are not directly impacted by your mentor. Ask to see his personal list of clients, and then proceed to spot check the list.
7. Will You Teach Me How To Do Things, Or Just Show Me What To Do? One of the biggest pet peeves I had when starting in network marketing was the amount of people who simply showed you what to do, but never really told you how to do it. This leaves many hanging dry and adds to the failure rate of 97%. If you are anything like me, you want to make an impact on the world and know that the only way you can help others is by helping yourself first. Then you can truly and honestly help others without holding back.
The Fastest Way To Start Making Money In MLM, Network Marketing Or Direct Sales
The last and final component is to be able to deliver your opportunity in a way that is compelling and gives your prospects the benefits they seek. Most MLM companies offer a tiny paycheck and it may take several hundred sales before you can start earning a good income.
If that’s your case, then you have one of two options. One would be to find other sources of income doing what you are already doing, and the second is to change to a GPT model (Get Paid Today). Check out our MLM Downline Building program to learn more…
With that, I want to welcome you to the MLM industry and please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

i am a consumer advocate, and not for MLM for obvious reasons. But, your article is one of the more truthful ones I have read. Like you, I believe there are legitimate MLM companies out there, you just have to find them. And, how? By asking the right questions to the one who is recruiting you. Unfortunately, not many can answer the questions, or do not answer them truthfully. Just one reason MLM gets a bad rap!!!
Thanks for the article.
